13th September Amber Court Walk and Workshop
Residents and carers from Genesis Housing’s Amber Court joined a foraging walk and jam making workshop today. We set out first to pick blackberries from the Warton Road multi-sports area, just in time as the berries are going by very early this year. We then walked along the river path behind Amber Court, and around to the Greenway to pick apples and a few more berries, before taking our findings back to the centre to prepare and cook.
We set up a base in the dining room, and decided to make a blackberry and apple jam. We also made a pot of sugar free compote, as one of the participants, Julie, is diabetic. Although this won’t keep like the jam, everyone agreed it was equally delicious.
The jam that we made will be part of the Harvest Stomp on Sunday 24th September – come and try them!
